How do I switch between AMPJet and AMPMast?

Switching between systems is simple with the modular cartridge design. For AMPJet, you insert the jet cartridge with 1-2 AMPCells. For AMPMast, you replace it with the battery-only cartridge containing 2-4 AMPCells (depending on desired runtime). The swap takes seconds and uses the same LAUNCHPad control system.

When will AMPMast be available?

AMPMast is coming in 2026. Our current focus has been perfecting the AMPJet system and its ecosystem (batteries, LAUNCHPad, etc.) to ensure compatibility for years to come. Now that AMPJet is in production, we're dedicating more resources to finishing AMPMast development.

What is AMPMast?

AMPMast is a mast-integrated motor system that provides continuous assist while the motor remains submerged. Unlike traditional clamp-on systems, AMPMast features a fully integrated 40mm motor sealed inside an ultra-stiff carbon mast. It's easier for beginners to master and perfect for hybrid eFoiling, flat water starts, and extended assist sessions.

Can I use AMPJet for flat water starts?

AMPJet can help with flat water starts, but it requires skill. The 25kg thrust provides initial acceleration, but once the jet outlet at the back of the board is above water, there's no more forward drive. You'll need to execute a strong pump/ollie motion to get up on foil. For easier flat water starts, AMPMast is the better choice as the motor stays submerged longer.

How long does AMPJet battery last?

With 2 x AMPCell_142 batteries, you get approximately 80+ boosts or a combination of boost and paddle assist. Most riders can get a 2-hour session on one battery using both paddle assist and boost functions. Battery life depends on usage patterns - boost mode uses more power than paddle assist mode.

How does AMPJet work?

AMPJet is a revolutionary board-based jet system where the propulsion unit is fully integrated inside the board's tail cavity. Unlike mast-mounted systems, AMPJet provides boost while the board is in the water, then automatically cuts power when you lift off onto foil - giving you zero drag once airborne. The system is controlled hands-free via the LAUNCHPad mounted in the nose of the board.

How much thrust does AMPJet provide?

AMPJet delivers up to 25kg of maximum thrust when using 2 x AMPCell_142 batteries. This revolutionary board-based jet system provides incredible power for getting onto waves, starting in light wind, or boosting for downwind sessions.

What are the AMP board sizes and which should I choose?

AMP_S Range (Performance Prone Shape):

  • AMP_S 4'2" - 27L - 7.9 lbs - For advanced riders, prone foiling
  • AMP_S 4'6" - 32L - 8.8 lbs - Versatile all-rounder for multiple disciplines

What does AMP stand for?

AMP stands for Assisted Motor Performance. It represents our revolutionary approach to foiling where you get assist when you need it, and exceptional unassisted performance when you don't.

What makes FLITELab* products different?

Everything at FLITELab* is built to impossibly high standards using state of the art construction techniques. The unique arrangement of carbon fibres in our boards creates a hyper-stiff, light and responsive surface which transfers all rider inputs direct to foil. We use ultra high modulus (UHM) carbon fibre in our monocoque masts for mind-bending rigidity in both torsional and bending stiffness.

What is FLITELab*?

FLITELab* is the ultimate destination for foilers by foilers. Our mission is to defy the impossible in assisted and unassisted surf foiling, winging and downwinding. We're a focused team of hydrodynamicists, engineers and designers, unconstrained by rules and conformity, working towards a single goal: Ride the impossible.

AMP Range Safety

At FLITELab* safety is our middle name. I know, we blame our parents, but we also take safety super seriously and the entire AMP Range has been designed with safety as the number one priority.

AMPJet is super contained and no more dangerous than a normal prone board, thanks to its completely enclosed impeller. An arming system prevents accidental motor operation, while Advanced Tilt Detection immediately shuts down the motor and stops the impeller from spinning, in the event of a fall. With any hydrofoil there's always a chance of hitting it so it's important to follow the rules for using a powered device in the water to lessen any risk to you or other water users.

AMPJet vs AMPMast Comparison

The AMPMast is easier to master, while AMPJet offers the ultimate in performance and a purer foiling experience.

AMPJet:

  • It's the best choice for downwinding and winging as there is nothing on the mast. So once you've used the boost to get up, you're away. Plus you can sink-start in under 10 knots with a lower volume board, if you know what you're doing.
  • For surf foiling it suits riders who just use the assist to get up and can then catch waves before pumping back out without the need for the jet, and since there is nothing attached to the mast, there is no extra drag.
  • AMPJet is a "hands-free" operation, so it feels the most natural and closest to prone-only foiling, allowing you to paddle and foil with nothing in your hands.
  • AMPJet is the cleanest and most discrete solution as the propulsion system is fully contained inside the board.
  • AMPJet offers the fastest interchange between assisted and unassisted foiling as all you need to do is swap the powered AMPJet cartridge with the AMP Blank – a foam replacement and you're ready to go. It's perfect for whenever the conditions change and takes just seconds.

AMPMast:

  • AMPMast is easier for foilers to master because it gives riders more of an assist thanks to the motor that's integrated inside the mast and so stays in the water for longer. This makes it easier to get up foiling and allows you to catch more waves by hybrid eFoiling back out, if you haven't learned to pump back out yet.
  • It's the best choice for flatwater starts too, again because the motor is below the surface.
  • The motor is fully sealed and integrated into the mast for reduced drag and maintenance.
  • You can use it to hybrid eFoil upwind to then do a downwinder.
  • You can use it on a lake to get up on the foil, then practise pumping around the lake.
What is the difference between assisted and unassisted foiling?

Unassisted foiling is foiling under your own steam, using paddle power or a wind wing to get up then the wave or wind to stay up and maybe a bit of pumping in between.

Assisted foiling is a whole other ball game and involves a motor and battery to help you get onto a wave and up on the foil. eFoils have the motor at the bottom of the mast so you can use the power in flat water or waves. Then there are assists designed with the motor at, or near, the top of the mast like AMPMast. This allows you to use it to get going or keep going when the board is very close to the water, but then when once you're fully up, you can keep the motor out of the water for less drag and rely solely on the power of the wave or wind. Then there are assists with the motor in the board, like AMPJet. This gives you a boost on to the wave, or to get up in light wind and because the motor and jet are contained in the board, once the board has left the water, you have zero extra drag and generate energy via the wave, wind or by pumping those legs. Think of this as a bridge between pure foiling and eFoiling.

How do I go from assisted to unassisted foiling?

The modular cartridge system means you can change faster than the conditions. It's super easy, just whip out the jet cartridge, replace it with a lightweight blank cartridge (AMP Blank) and you're ready to go. The whole process takes seconds.

What is an AMP_Board?

AMP_Board is compatible with AMPJet (a revolutionary board-based jet, assist system). Together they are the future of assisted foiling, offering one setup for prone foiling, winging and downwinding. AMPJet uses a battery cartridge system that swaps out in seconds and is positioned centrally inside the board for reduced swing weight and zero extra drag. Think of it as assist when you need it, mind-bending unassisted performance when you don't, in a super stiff, carbon construction layup for next level riding.

AMP_Boards come in the following sizes:

  • AMP_S 4'2 - 4'2" x 17.5" x 3.1" - 27L - 7.9 lbs
  • AMP_S 4'6 - 4'6" x 18.5" x 3.1" - 32L - 8.8 lbs
  • AMP_S 4'8 - 4'8" x 20" x 3.5" - 40L - 9.7 lbs
  • AMP_M 5'0 - 5'0" x 18" x 3.5" - 45L - 10.6 lbs
  • AMP_M 5'8 - 5'8" x 19" x 4.2" - 65L - 11.5 lbs

Weights are approx. ± 5%
